“Fine estate a NordOvest” è in verità la seconda versione di una tela che si intitola “Vita e Morte nelle foreste dell’Alberta”, per gli amici Alberta. Entrambe ritraggono un orso morto. Lo so, la morte non è il genere di argomento che si vuole avere sotto gli occhi ogni giorno: perché qualcuno vorrebbe appendere un quadro con un orso morto? Non ne ho idea, ma se vi va vi racconto perché qualcuno ha sentito il bisogno di disegnarne uno, anzi, addirittura due.
Affrontare la morte come un fatto naturale è qualcosa che a noi esseri umani evoluti e civilizzati riesce malissimo, ma non ci spaventa solo la morte fisica. Siamo terrorizzati dall’oblio e dall’inevitabile inconsistenza della nostra presenza sul pianeta.
Siamo più vicini al non esistere, che all’esistere. Per quanto ovvia, questa constatazione è pur sempre traumatica. Eppure ha una sua bellezza, una sua luce, e un suo potere taumaturgico, perché ci solleva dal nostro complesso di immortalità.
