La scoperta del nuovo blu
Vi ricordate il mio entusiasmo per la scoperta del nuovo blu? Da quando ho saputo della scoperta, nel 2014, del blu YInMn non ho fatto che pensare che si tratti del colore del millennio, principalmente per due ragioni. Intanto, anche in foto il colore mi sembrava eccezionalmente ricco e avvolgente: molti lo confondono con il blu di Yves Klein, che però non è un nuovo pigmento, è solo una miscela di cobalto e oltremare, con una speciale vernice. Secondo, a differenza degli altri pigmenti chimici, il nuovo blu è atossico.
Blu YInMn in edizione limitata
Ho letto molto sull’argomento e ne ho parlato anche con voi, rimanendo in attesa della possibilità di vederlo dal vivo. Finalmente, la Schmincke, una delle mie marche preferite per il materiale artistico, ha reso disponibile un’edizione limitata di acrilici e di colori ad olio: piccole quantità, costi esosi e difficili da trovare, ma non potevo arrendermi. Sono finalmente riuscita ad acquistare un tubetto su un sito inglese e in questi giorni l’ho potuto finalmente sperimentare, ma, soprattutto, vedere con i miei occhi.
“La regola del blu”, la mia prima opera con il blu YInMn
Ho scelto una tela di piccolo formato, 30×30 cm, e mi sono fatta coraggio. Vista la rarità e il costo del tubetto, so che non avrò a disposizione tante altre occasioni, almeno finché il blu YInMn non sarà finalmente in commercio con una produzione industriale a prezzi convenienti, cosa che succederà sicuramente, ma nessuno sa dire di preciso quando.
Carica di aspettative, ho aperto il colore per la prima volta e ne ho spremuto una nocciolina direttamente sulla tela.
Ricorda davvero molto il blu di Klein, ma racchiude una nota di rosso che lo rende ancora più ipnotico. Ho pensato pensato subito che Kandinskij lo avrebbe amato e che sarebbe stato l’ossessione di Matisse.
Ho iniziato colorando una porzione di tela, spargendolo con il pennello. Alla prima stesura, la consistenza, piuttosto liquida, crea uno strato non del tutto coprente. Non c’è bisogno di diluirlo con acqua o altro medium. Ho aspettato che il primo strato asciugasse per dare una seconda mano e, a questo punto, compattato il colore, l’ho guardato asciugare. A differenza di altri pigmenti, non cambia affatto dopo l’asciugatura: rimane brillante esattamente come appena steso, ancora umido. Se vi sembra bello in foto, tenete conto che dal vivo è anche più particolare: un colore così saturo è una vera rarità.
Ho dipinto di blu il soggetto principale del disegno, un grosso felino nell’atto di afferrare un bue, e ho richiamato il colore su alcuni dettagli, soprattutto in una porzione di cielo stellato. Si può dire un bestiario in azione, una scena di caccia e supremazia. La belva brilla di un colore intenso e definitivo, mentre la preda è di un cangiante beige, bianco, giallo, neutra e passiva.
Soddisfatta dell’accostamento dei colori, soprattutto tra blu e dorato, ho affiancato una seconda tela a formare un dittico.

Conclusioni sulla prima esperienza con il blu YInMn
Non sono riuscita a “staccare”: la sessione di pittura è durata tutto il giorno e parte della notte, cose che non succedeva da un po’.
Mi è avanzato molto colore, perché bastano due strati per compattare alla perfezione la consistenza del blu YInMn della Schmincke. Sono felice quindi di avere a disposizione un’altra possibilità di esprimermi grazie a questo splendido pigmento, talmente bello che sembra quasi di barare: troppo facile creare qualcosa di bello!

Il mio omaggio su tessuto, un bellissimo misto seta-lana, è un blu che ho ottenuto grazie ad una miscela di colori in quadricromia, con un’impregnatura dosata ad arte per rimenere brillante sul tessuto, con un leggero effetto satinato.
